Life On A Higher Plane
This Life is More Than Just a Read Through
A growing base of uploaded voice demo reels are adding more acting dimensions to the script that is my ever evolving life. It has given me a world of voices hatching from a richly explored life. And I ain’t done yet.
Unpacking a Suitcase, Landing Somewhere Inside the Vulnerable
It is like unpacking a suitcase. Landing somewhere inside that is vulnerable, but needs to be heard. It starts with perceived failure. Gulp. “What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?” says the artwork on my bookshelf. This is uncharted territory. But everything I need is within. I regroup. It is a learning curve. I am listening to my inner ear. I am exploring within but sounds are flowing out of me at the same time. I am in the zone.
Words Take Shape, Flying Out Into the Air
There are stories to tell. The recorded words take shape, flying out into the air. I can do different takes from different perspectives, but I cannot unsay the words. It is the instinctive actor unravelling vignettes of sound bites. I voyage beyond the scripted words and flesh out the story between the lines. I cannot control their impact. Their messages travel at different frequencies with varying degrees of relevance and influence.
Even in the Fiction, It Is My Truth, Speaking To Your Truth, A Resonator of the Transitory Times
It is where the speaker artfully becomes an audience engager. Voice acting is an infiltrating exchange of imagination and ideas. Where storytelling is framed through each listener’s perspective. It is a voice in the ether that is familiar and strange, turning sounds into pictures. I know exactly who I am speaking with on the other end of the unspoken dialogue. Even in the fiction, it is my truth, speaking to your truth. A resonator of the transitory times.
All The World’s A Stage
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and entrances. and one man in his time plays many parts, his act being seven ages.” said none other than William Shakespeare.
The Shadows Give The Sound Shape
The benefits of more life experience is that we can introspect on where our paths took those unintended twists and turns. All the unexpressed emotions and desires get their day in the sun behind a microphone or compassionate ear. There are innate, human similarities that bind us more than they divide. An old Cameroonian saying is “No matter how fast a man is, he cannot outrun his shadow.” The shadows give the sound shape. Wounds unmasked, the healing continues when exposed to air. The picture painted in the mind of the listener is of their own design.
Let the Script Gaps Create New Spaces In Me And You
The magic is in the silence. The gaps in between the lines. The words unspoken. What we don’t say, has power running through it. Then there are…the words used instead. Where one fails to fill in the gap with chatter. There is a moment of nothingness. We let the dawning of inspiration flow through us. Now we feel that we are not alone in this creative process. That we are humbled to be among greatness. The gratitude is pouring through my cells. Let it heal. This is just a drop in the ocean of oneness.
Livestreaming Destination
In my car the other day, the Red Hot Chili Peppers chimed out on the radio “This life is more than just a read through.” And like an enlightening rod, my consciousness makes the connection to this unfolding body of voiceworks. I salute our experiences and share the message. The experiences morphing through multiple lenses. Here’s to expressing the part of me through voice acting that fulfils my being. It is writing in the ether, with a quill and ink that is not permanent but flows like a livestreaming ripple effect. Its impact is permeating the atmosphere like waves refreshing the pages of this book we call life.
